So for those of you reading this, let me just say thank you for taking the time to look at my site! It’s still going to be going under construction, because I’m picky, but this is what the overall gist of it is going to look like [the format of posts, the navigation, and what not].
This website is pretty easily ran, I bought the domain before because I wanted to keep a blog/website about my trip this summer but when I found out that I was going to have to keep one for my summer internship anyway, I figured I might as well. Better to just keep them both together and not try to juggle them.
The hosting site is Tumblr [so for those of you who have one, feel free to click the little follow button up at the top], because it’s a blogging host that I’m the most familiar with. The theme was made by someone else, their link is on the sidebar. You might think ‘but I can’t find one on hers that looks like this’, and that’s because I customized it. A lot. I took off the menu bar that was between the main entry area and the header, made the header larger and image mapped the header/sidebar. By image mapping, for those of you who don’t know, it means if you see something on the header or sidebar [like gallery or the student or anything that sounds like it could have more information] just click in that spot and it’ll redirect you to where there’s information about what you’re wondering about.
The site is pretty empty right now, only basic information can be found on the pages, and the gallery is going to be completely empty, but I promise that once the trip starts that won’t be true.
The header is mine, as well, that I customized and put together on Photoshop.
But past the logistics, and the pretty sparkles that come with making a new website, I figured I’d give you some information on what you’ll be finding on this website.
Besides the links on the side where you can find information about me, my school, my program, the country and the NGO I’ll be interning with I’m also going to have a place with the links to the other student’s blogs [if they’ll allow me] so that you can see not just the experience I’ve been having, but the one they’re having as well.
That’s the great thing about this internship - not one of us is going to have the same experience as the other. We’re all being placed at different NGOs and doing different kinds of work. It’s exciting .
For the main posts you’ll be seeing ones like these: headed by a date and in this same format. These will be the main posts on here to let you all know what’s going on. I’ll be updating every once in awhile before the trip to let you know what’s going on, if anything, about this trip.
Another post you’ll be seeing a lot of are pictures. I’m a picture maniac - you should see the album I have from when I went to New York! I’ll try to put them together in a photoset, but if a picture really strikes me then I’ll post it by itself. All photos will belong to me, unless otherwise stated, and will be accompanied by a short information.
